at Region 1 Medical Center
The Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) and the Province of Cebu signed a Memorandum of Agrement (MOA) to strenthen healthcare workforce in pursuit of a more responsive public health service delivery to undeserved communities and vulnerable populations.
According to the MOA, Cebu is set to deploy doctors to the facilities of R1MC to undergo residency training. Likewise, the R1MC will also send medical specialists to extend their expertise to the doctors of Cebu.
R1MC Medical Center Chief II, Dr. Joseph Roland O. Mejia signed the MOA with Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III on October 5, 2017.
Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Elmer G. Punzalan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rene C. Catan, and R1MC Chief of Medical Professional Staff Dr. Zaldy P. Guico witnessed the MOA signing.
Currently, R1MC, a 600-bed capacity, tertiary training, teaching and research hospital has 14 accredited departments, 10 and 1 subspecialty units and specialty unit respectively, all accredited by the Philippine Society of Medical Specialists, Inc. (PSMSI) and other speciality bodies.
The general purpose of this agreement is to ensure that the public will attain equitable and accessibly quality healthcare services in compliance with the Duterte administration’s health agenda, “All for Health towards Health for all”.
